Karma Box E-Comm Shoot & Retouch
After Initial talks and agreeing on a mood-board, I sourced an array of props and began experimenting on styling different scenes with the products. At this time the product was shipping to my home studio space in Detroit all the way from Alberta Canada.
This was a completely remote process. The shooting took place over a zoom video call, where the client and I collaborated on styling and ideas for the final edits as the shoot was taking place. This worked out really well, the client was able to see the shoot through live view in my camera on Hasselblad's tethering software, Phocus.
The editing process was very long, only because of the shear volume of the images to be delivered. In total, there were 12 products, one for each zodiac sign. Each Product was to have 5 images to go along with it. To make this process simpler, I photographed a background plate, and the opted to retouch the environment of the background plate. Then I proceeded to composite each individual product into that plate. This saved a lot of time and editing, and it also gave a smoother scrolling experience for a consumer online.
The Trickiest images to finish in this process were the Color background Flat Lays. These were shot on mutual Grey. I choose to shoot them on Grey because any other color would reflect & bleed into the color of the products themselves. With Grey background I still had to composite much of the image to get the final product you see here.
The Images on Grey were also used for the group shot of the Flat lay you see below here, as well as the On white main Product images the client opted to use for their Amazon listing.
